South Central does The Wombats

South Central have just done a wicked remix of this:
The Wombats - Backfire at the Disco

What a CRACKER.

Lily Allen

I am not a fan of Lily Allen, in any way. However, having had a listen to her two new songs she released a few weeks ago, i'm just going to have to pretend it is someone else singing as they are really good. How shameful.

Oct 23 Southampton Guildhall
Oct 24 Cardiff University
Oct 25 Liverpool Carling Academy
Oct 26 Leeds Carling Academy
Oct 28 Sheffield Carling Academy
Oct 29 Birmingham Carling Academy

Nov 02 Glasgow Carling Academy

I'd say get tickets for the Nov 7th date in Brixton as on their last tour back in Febuary they started the show with a full brass band.. bit cool eh. Get your tickets HERE from Friday 25th...

Part of the Weekend Never Dies

I'm going to see this tonight:

It's Part Of The Weekend Never Dies and it's a documentary about Soulwax and 2ManyDJ's by Saam Farahmand.
Looks quite good eh?

Last night...

We went to see the PopJustice 'Wonky' tour featuring Leon Jean Marie, FrankMusik and Alphabeat. It was great. I particularly enjoyed the audience participation which only lasted for a second in LJM's set but they were really enjoyable, reggae-electro anyone?
Alphabeat were also brilliant - really cheesy and lead singer Anders seemed to be slightly... intoxicated? Up most treat of the night was when all three acts came on to perform Digital Love which I linked to a few weeks ago. I'm still just not sure about FrankMusik, especially as he wasn't wearing his trade mark white glasses. Let down.

Hot Chip were on the radio last week. Not in the UK but in the USA. Oh the magic of the Internet.
You can listen to them live: here.

Operator Please, Take 2

I'm going to now devote an entire post to this week's favourite band - Operator Please. I know, I know, I have spoken about them a couple of times before, I'm just really excited about seeing them on the 18th May at Great Escape performing at Water Margin (what a stupid name for a venue) as I reckon they're going to be quite good live... ANYWAY. Here are some of their hitzzzzz... including, as always, some remixes.

Ghost
Zero Zero
Crash Tragic
Catalogue Kids
One Yellow Button
Leave It Alone (NYPC remix)
Get What You Want (Sportsday Megaphone Remix)
Just A Song About Ping Pong (On The Prowl Remix)

Oh, and isn't it kind of RealBrighton to let me cover all the Great Escape gigs that I want to go to!

Does it offend you, YEAH?

I don't really have much else for you than these:

M83 - We Own The Sky (Maps Remix)

Annie - Heartbeat (Royksopp remix)

Muse - Map of the Problematic (Does it Offend You Yeah? Remix)

The Danger remix of Sebastian Teller's Divine is actually amazing. But I can't link it anymore as I got asked to take it down. Search away Internet geniuses..
(I think that Van She, Danger and The Shoes should have a 'mix-off' as I cannot quite choose who's stuff I like more.)

I got told to listen to 'Rosey' the other day, she is a Jazz singer, and quite good actually.
Rosey - Love (Koop Remix)

Also, Joan As Policewoman is releasing a new album in June, Hoorah! This is quite old news, but alas, I forgot. I missed her last time she was in Brighton so I have already got my sights on a ticket.

Next week, I shall be giving you a nice little run down of the best people (in my humble opinion) that are playing at Great Escape in Brighton, and where they are playing too as they just released the full line up.
Yup.

Dance, dance, dance.

I'm looking forward to getting back to Brighton, mainly to DANCE. And have some ciders with my pals.
ANYWAY.

I really like this original version and I don't know why:
Wiley - Wearing My Rolex however, this is better:
Wiley - Wearing My Rolex (The Shoes Remix)
The Shoes are totally taking over Van She for my favourite remix-ers.
In other (brief) news, these people Kraak & Smaak are a bit good eh?
Kraak & Smaak - Squeeze Me

Peace out.

Time To Pretend

MGMT vs. The Doors vs. Daft Punk - One More Time To Pretend

Trentmoller - Copenhagen vs. Tainted love

M.I.A vs Battles - Boys Atlas (Diplo Remix)

These are actually brilliant - By Ben Double M
The Jackson 5 vs. Daft Punk - I want your Digital Love

Daft Punk vs. Ferry Corsten - Harder, better, stronger, faster, FIRE

I am not part of the Computer Club any more.

I quite like these people, from Alabama, USA - Computer Club.
They just did this nice little cover of 'Bizarre Love Triangle' by New Order
And one of their own: Computer Club - Load Rocket

Martina Topley Bird(What a name!) is straight out of London and Van She have just done a nice remix of her great tune 'Poison' HERE

Ida Corr's Let Me Think About it is really old now yes? Well enjoy this version by the great Mickey Slim: Let Me think About it

This little remix of Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack by Engineerz of Soul is rather good too.

Finally, this just popped up:
Jane Jarboe and Justin Broadrick (cello vs. heavy metal anyone?) did this bizarre little number:
Romp

I'm without Itunes at the moment (and am back on the farm at my parents) as my computer is on its way to computer Heaven. But I have noticed that Hype Machine are now doing a scrobbling service, which is nice. So if you want to add me as a pal: then I'm right here!
Now, I know there are quite a few people reading this blog which makes me feel quite happy. If you have any recommendations that you would like to pass on I would be even happier. Oh, and thanks for reading :)

Thank you Pinglewood

It's Lucky They Are Pretty

Because their videos are BORING. Only 10 days till I see Alphabeat, hooray!
So searching for Alphabeat videos today and i came across this...
EH?!

Let's Compare?

I'm not sure which I like more...

Funday Monday

Not many people can cover the White Stripes... But Nikka Costa gives it a good go:
Nikka Costa - The Denial Twist

S.P.A - Pet's Dance (Thoughtless Hussies Remix)

Headman - Catch Me If You Can (Tronik Youth Remix)

The Mystery Jets - Hideaway (Switch Remix)

The Teenagers - No Love (Delorean Remix)

Dizzee Rascal - Sirens (Black Light Remix)

Gotan Project – Mi Confession (Edu K Drop The Bass Remix)

Is it weird that I quite like that ridiculous Beeper song....?

I am hearing rumours that Prodigy are playing the amazing 3am set at Summercase. Am also really excited about the Great Escape happening again in Brighton May 17-19Th, last year, we managed to see Adele at Red Roaster, Bonde Do Role and Scroobius Pip supporting Kate Nash at Pressure point, Nouvelle Vague at the Corn Exchange and also managed to blag our way into the (ticketed) T4 Music show that they held at the Udderbelly. Saw The Gossip, Scissor Sisters, Cold War Kids and Bat for lashes all rather sureally in a giant purple upside down cow on the Old Stein... This year, the Speigeltent is back as well, Hercules and Love Affair are rumoured to be playing one night so I know it's going to be another good weekend in May. In the Udderbelly which is apparently going to be opposite Hectors house, there is going to be a Silent Disco which is something I've wanted to go to for a long time.

Amazing

Collaboration between the HUGE Larry Tee and Princess Superstar... I give you Licky:

Tuesday, 1 April 2008

Oh! And this:

Mystery Jets - Young Love (The Shoes Remix)
Lovely.

No-no-notorious.

My computer is SCREWED. So therefore I don't know how often I am going to be able to update in the next month or so... oh, and that little matter of my ever pending Dissertation. SO. Here are some lovely remixes and a wicked cover from the fabulous Hot Chip:

Hot Chip - Sensual Seduction (Snoop Dogg Cover)

For some reason, I really like Moby's Disco Lies. But, even better is this remix:
Disco Lies - Spencer and Hills Remix

NOISE:
Hearts Revolution - CYAO (Paparazzi Remix)
Kill The Noise - Hey You (Paparazzi Remix)

Ladytron - Play Girl (Felix Da Housecat Glitz Clubhead Mix)

What is it with Eastern Europeans and their dirty, dirty Electro?
Maral Salmassi - Fire Gem (Fukkk Offf Remix)

BearBot - Quality Pipes - I don't really know how to describe this... no-no-no notorious? I like it.

So, finally, in anticipation of an amazing gig at Audio on the 20th - PopJustice have given us a remix of Daft Punk's Digital Love performed by not ONLY Alphabeat, but FrankMusik too! Hooray!

Have you seen the Summercase 08' Line Up?!
Primal Scream, Hot Chip, M.I.A, SEX PISTOLS!, 2ManyDJ's, CSS, Mystery Jets (my personal favourite), Tiga, and Santogold!
Plus more but I don't care. This is enough excitement for me.

Thank you - MissingToof
