Saturday:
Tuaca Promotion (!!!), The Clik Clik, Wiley, Mystery Jets, Fujiya and Miyagi, Laura Marling, Sam Sparro, Santogold.

PHEW. What a cracking line up. I will be doing some sort of review after it all. Unfortunatly, my computer is being a spastic again so I can't upload any music. Damn.

The Shoes

I like this. A lot. Yet another French group..

The Shoes - Knock Out (80s Kidz Remix)

Thanks to Pinglewood

(Late) Monday Fun

So after a pretty hectic weekend... here are some fun things to kick off your week:

Played by a top-DJ-friend at Eurotrash this weekend, this got me a bit over-excited:
Wannabe - Spice Girls (The Touch Remix)

Pete Tong's Essential song of the week and quite rightly so:
Something New (Galactic Remix) - The Black Ghosts vs. Lindstrom

Annie Mac played this massive collaboration last week (excuse her talking briefly):
Soulwax vs. Justice - Disco Sirens

These Boots Were Made for Walking - DJ Metric

Can't get enough of Hercules and Love Affair.. particularly Blind which is sure to be huge. They are all over the press so we shall see. Sam Sparro seems to be on the rise (as predicted uh-huh!) and on every radio station and music channel well, everywhere. Gnarls Berkley's new album is also bound to be rather good, the first single Run is good, not sure about the others yet haven't listened enough. But I will.

PrettyMuchAmazing has posted lots and lots of delightful Soulwax remixes for your listening delight. Nothing new here just some favourites.

The new Ministry Of Sound Mash Up Mix 2008 is seriously, seriously fun. So go, download it, or even buy it.

Thanks to POS, TheseRocksPop

Oooo Hark at eee BOY.

Aretha Franklin & The Rolling Stones - A Deeper Love (Chew Fu & Steve Clisby Vocal mix)

The Wombats - Kill The Director (CSS remix)

The Wombats - Moving To New York (The Touch Remix)

Also, getting quite excited about the line up at SummerCase in Barcelona 2008. The Sex Pistols?! Awesome.

(PalmsOutSounds)

YO Majesty

Just been reminded about this...

Yo Majesty - Club Action (Christopher Braves sail mix)

hahahaha how good!

Bloc Party vs. Outkast - She's Hearing Bombs (Cosmo Baker Remix)
Thanks to Schitz Popinov

Dragonnette - The Boys (Calvin Harris cover.. The girls.)

Mystery Jets - Young Love (ft. Laura Marling) I love Laura Marling.

Also, this band Little Boots are rather good. Here is their Stuck on Repeat. May recognise the lead singer as she was formally in Dead Disco and this song was produced by Joe from Hot Chip. Bit of a step in the right direction eh?

Adele

Nice little chilled out remix of Adele's Hometown Glory by Night Facilities.

Over and over and over and over and over....

Like a monkey with a minature symbol...
This is such a brilliant cover of Hot Chip's Over and Over by The Miserable Rich who are from Brighton.. They are actually playing tonight at Komedia but sadly, I am already busy.
2MANYDJ'S!!!

Coburn

Listened to this amazing CD at a friend's agggges ago. Coburn are Producers from London and are most famous for We Interupt This Programme. So I got the CD, my favourtie song features the one and only Princess Superstar, but here is some nice 'Trippy Electro' for you..

Alas, without Princess Superstar.
Razorblade - Coburn (Play Paul Remix)

Basia Bulat

Signed to Rough Trade Records, Canadian born Basia Bulat released her first album last year Oh, My Darling and here are a few samplers for you...

In the Night
Snakes and Ladders

Remix-a-go-go.

Finally A decent remix of last summer's most irritating song.. Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John.
My!Gay!Husband! Does it so much better. Apart from the rather annoying synths at 3.30mins.

Look at Moooooeeee.

They have also remixed Feist's 1234, with much better success...

Juno

So many people are talking about the low budget, independant film 'Juno' at the moment, but mainly about the amazing soundtrack that came with it. The film is, well, just really nice and well worth the wait. It was nice to see that 'Hard Candy' hasn't lead Ellen Page down a stereotyped casting track and that she will hopefuly follow Juno with some more amazing films.
So anyway.. back to the soundtrack.

Belle and Sebastian - Expectations
The Velvet underground - I'm Sticking With You
And the beautiful Mouldy Peaches cover by Ellen Page and Michael Cera - Anyone Else But You

Santogold

Described as an 'Indie M.I.A' mixed with Karen O, from New York it's Santogold. She opened on tour with Bjork at Madison Square Gardens, co-produced a song with Lilly Allen and Mark Ronson wants to work with her..

Santogold - L.E.S Artistes

So wrong, but SO right.

AMR's Lady Soverign Love Me or Hate Me Remix

Hot Bitch Arsenal

I can't remember where i started listening to this American Duo but ever since the first listen to Double Down Quick I have been totally hooked. The most similar artist i suppose would be Kosheen due to the melodies and slightly drum and bass kinda feel that they've got going on.

Being such a new and pretty much unheard of act, they have been ever so kind and supplied us with mp3's to their entire collection right heeeeeeere. Which is nice, also if you feel really kind, you should just download them from the iTunes store.. It is only, like, £7 which isn't that much to ask.

Ida Maria

Ida Maria comes from Stockholm and is.just.so.good. Her band play funky fast rythym and her vocals are maybe similar to that of Cat Power or an edgier Nina Persson from The Cardigans, not to compare too much to other Scandanavian vocalists of course..
Here is her MySpace and here is a link to her first UK released song Oh My God!

Enjoy.

A Round Up Of Remixes

GNR - Sweet Ass Child Of Mine (Donna Summer Remix)

Kylie - WOW (CSS Remix)

Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches (Ruckus Roboticus remix) From the great 'MissingToof' Blog

The Gossip - Listen Up! (Black Ghosts Remix)

Pat Benatar - Let's Get Physical (Black Ghosts Remix)

M.I.A vs The Bravery - An Honest M.I.A

A Quick Jump into 2008

So 2007 was very much Kate Nash's year in the category of female pop/acoustic/soulish kind of singer. In my opinion, Kate Nash is now really old news, I love her album but the hype surrounding 'Foundations' quite simply was out of this World.
We saw her in Brighton for the Great Escape festval at Pressure Point, a small capacity venue, back in May 07' and I know now, you could never dream of seeing her in such a small venue. Shame.

This year, I am really exicted about two (relitavely) new female singers - Duffy and Adele. We also saw Adele at the GE at Red Roaster, seriously intimate and enjoyable. Duffy I am yet to see but desperate to.
I found this amazing re-mix of the song 'Mercy' done by the incredible Dunproofin. Adele's album '19' is really, really good. There isn't a song on there that I don't like. With these two being tipped to battle it out in 2008, Duffy needs to come out with something seriously good to stay in the competition.

As most people who know me know, I am obsessed with remixes and also with discovering new music. Although I keep a personal blog, I am going to start this music one up just to recommend music that I find really. Often stolen from other similar blogs but really just so that I can keep track of what I need to download and listen to.
